Using 24 of the next generation of LEDs, Homewatt's super bright 5050 SMDs have been carefully designed to maximise light output and life expectancy. The diffuse output makes this the ideal general purpose LED replacement for all 50W halogens. Our 5W lamp is the brightest SMD that we have come across and is over 50% brighter than our 4W SMD. Key features include: - chromed alloy heat sink for maximum life
- sealed glass cover for better looks and protection
- 24 high performance 80 lumen/watt surface mounted SMD chips (72 LEDs)
- 2 year guarantee
- wide 120° beam angle, ideal for general purpose lighting
- same size as traditional halogen...will fit all housings
For high ceilings and maximum life we recommend our either our Astralumen™ or 6W CREE LED GU10 but for most domestic and commercial applications this lamp provides great illumination at a very reasonable price. Dimmable with most electronic dimmers - check minimum load ratings, we do not recommend using this bulb without a dimmer switch click to download datasheet -- We don't solicit feedback but we couldn't resist accepting this customer's offer to use their comments relating to the original version of this product: "Thank you for your prompt delivery, received today in very good packaging. I was however a little concerned about the amount of light generated as some earlier 3W products had been reviewed elsewhere as poor in this respect. Buying the "GU10 5W LED SMD Daylight White" was a gamble for me as the only way of satisfying myself was to try them. I was reassured by the 7 day return offer by homewatt [editor: now 30 days] and purchased an initial 2 of a required 4 in order to compare them side by side with some conventional 50 Watt Halogens on a fitting in my kitchen. My wife has complained for some time that the amount of light in our kitchen has been poor, which is why we originally switched to halogens, but for some reason the life of these halogens has been poor. She was doubtful when I suggested buying these LED lamps and as stated I was concerned due to earlier generation reviews. I carefully selected two spots illuminating the least critical places in the kitchen, leaving the other two spots with halogens. I first tested in the early evening before full darkness and the results were simply amazing. These 5W LED's were so much brighter than the halogens that they made them look relatively dim, the light spread is also better. For some the Daylight White may be too white for some locations although perfect for our kitchen application. I am sure that the warm white 6W version would be great where softer light is required. On payday I shall be purchasing 2 more of these wonderful lamps which I am sure will pay for themselves fairly quickly especially as we are entering the winter short days."
